Vivendi Water (a Vivendi subsidiary) has announced that CTSE, a 50-50 joint venture company with SAUR in the Czech Republic, has been selected to operate the water company in Olomouc, the capital of Moravia, under a 20-year contract. The new operating company will begin its activities on April 1, 2000 and will provide water and wastewater services for 130,000 people.
The company currently employs 300 people. Total net sales for the contract will amount to 200 million euros. Vivendi Water manages services, directly or through joint venture agreements, for a total of 2,000,000 inhabitants in the Czech Republic.
The company has estimated net sales for 2000 of over 115 million euros and employs 3,900 people. Vivendi Water was created from the merger of Générale des Eaux and USFilter. Vivendi Water serves over 100 million customers in more than 100 countries, and is world leader in all segments of the water market: local authorities, industry and consumers. It has estimated 1999 net sales of 12 billion euros. Vivendi Water employs over 70,000 people.
