South East Water has just completed phase one of a major water quality improvement programme throughout the southern counties.
1200km of main, enough to stretch from London to Edinburgh and back, has been renovated during the five year programme. The work involves scraping the build up of deposits from iron water pipes and relining with epoxy resin. This prevents deposits being picked up as the water travels from treatment work to tap.
The team are now looking forward to starting on phase two – tackling the next 800 kilometres.
