Local company South East Water has sent one of its most experienced managers to help in Mozambique, which has suffered extensive flooding.
Simon Robertson, who has worked in the water industry for over twenty years, flew to Mozambique on Tuesday night. A national state of emergency was declared in the country last week, after a year’s rainfall fell in just four days.
Many water mains have burst, the treatment works is out of action, rivers have flooded their banks and townships been washed away. Simon, who has previously spent time working in South Africa, will offer invaluable assistance and support to the water supply company in Maputo in coping with these exceptional circumstances. He will join colleagues from South East Water’s sister company, Dynamco, who have also been despatched to assist.
South East Water’s parent company SAUR UK, is a subsidiary of SAUR International which forms part of the Aguas de Moçambique consortium which manages the water supply for Maputo and the four major cities in Mozambique.
Simon Robertson works throughout the South East Water area and lives in Mayfield, East Sussex.
