EMOS (Empresa Metropolitana de Obras Sanitarias) the sanitation company of Santiago (Chile) has awarded OTV (Vivendi) a contract to design and build the city’s first wastewater treatment plant.In the framework of this contract OTV will also supervise the assembly and the commissioning of the plant and operate it over one year. With a capacity of 1,200,000 PE, the plant will be the first of several facilities of that kind destined to treat wastewater from the 5 million inhabitants of the "Greater Santiago".
Treated water will be used to irrigate the farming area of Santiago which has been undergoing hard drought for several years.
Won by OTV against five other bidders, this contract strengthens the company’s position in the international market.
