Forty-two innovations were honored yesterday at the 15th annual Innovation Trophies, in the presence of Jean Gandois and Gérard Mestrallet, respectively Chairman of the Supervisory Board and Chairman of the Executive Board of Suez Lyonnaise des Eaux, Georges Charpak, Nobel Prize winner in Physics, and Nicolas Gaume, Chairman of Kalisto.
A sampling of the most innovative developments coming from the Energy, Water, Waste Services, and Communications divisions of Suez Lyonnaise des Eaux includes:
- a customer Extranet and 3,500 itinerant technicians equipped with smart-phones that combine telephone and computer functions that continuously update management, maintenance, and energy applications and offer the possibility of consultations at any time …
- Strabex, an effective product for destroying micro-organisms in the reuse of industrial water, while respecting the environment …
- a biogas waste to energy conversion process that is both ecological and economical, developed by a sanitary landfill site …
These realizations, designed and implemented by Group employees, were among the Year 2000 prize winners in the Innovation Trophies, a real barometer of Group creativity.
Out of 191 submissions (fifty more than in 1999) presented by teams from eighteen countries, 42 were awarded trophies at a Paris ceremony held at the Théâtre Marigny off the Champs Elysées, in the presence of Jean Gandois and Gérard Mestrallet, Georges Charpak and Nicolas Gaume.
Innovation concerns all business functions, from technology to field techniques, from management decision-making to staff management, from marketing and communications to the social arena.
An integral part of the Group's culture and strategy, innovation enables the Group to continuously improve the quality of its product range and services to customers while reducing costs, inventing new services, and strengthening environment and public health protections.
From innovations to implementation, Suez Lyonnaise des Eaux has positioned itself to develop business on new horizons: industrial customers, e-business, water resources, cogeneration developments, energy trading, and high-speed Internet access.
