Lyonnaise des
Eaux (Suez Lyonnaise des Eaux Group) through Sino-French Holdings
signed two joint-ventures to supply water to 1.7 million inhabitants
for the cities of ZHENGZHOU in the Henan Province and BAODING
in the Hebei Province of China.
The joint-venture
contracts represent a total USD 62 million investment and
total turnover of approximately USD 500 million. They were
signed with the cities of Zhengzhou and Baoding for a duration
of respectively 30 and 20 years.

Eaux comments: 'These new contracts further strengthen our
leading position with over 10 million people supplied in China.
It reinforces the trust municipalities have placed in our
Sino-French subsidiary and the high quality of services supplied.'
The contracts
comprise the acquisition of existing drinking water treatment
plants with a total capacity of 560,000 m3/day and include
the operation and management of production facilities to supply
drinking water in bulk.
Lyonnaise des
Eaux supplies drinking water to 10 million inhabitants in
China in the provinces of LIAONING, JANGXI, HEBEI, HENAN and
GUANDONG and has turnover of USD 65 million per annum in the
country.
