Suez Lyonnaise des Eaux wins Trencin contract in Slovakia, the country's first delegated management contract
Following an international consultation, Lyonnaise des Eaux (Suez Lyonnaise des Eaux Group) has been awarded a delegated management contract to operate the water and wastewater treatment services for the region of Trencin. This 20-year contract binds TVS (a local subsidiary of Lyonnaise des Eaux ) to a consortium of 50 local authorities and will serve 150,000 inhabitants.
The contract will generate more than 5 million euros in revenues in its first year. A 40 million-euro investment program in public infrastructure is planned over the lifetime of the contract. Investments will cover the construction of a sewage plant, rehabilitation of drinking water and wastewater mains, together with improving customer service.
For the first time in Slovakia, a consortium of local authorities has contracted the management of their water and wastewater services out to a private-sector company. This approach allows municipal authorities to mutualize their costs and services over a wider area while retaining ownership of the installations.
This contract, the first of its kind in Slovakia, marks a new step forward in Lyonnaise des Eaux's expansion in Central Europe. Today Lyonnaise des Eaux supplies drinking water to 4 million inhabitants and provides wastewater treatment services to 2 million people in Central Europe.
Lyonnaise des Eaux, Suez Lyonnaise des Eaux's Water division, is the world leader in water management, supplying 85 million people with drinking water and wastewater treatment services to 53 million.
