Lyonnaise des Eaux, the water division of Suez Lyonnaise des Eaux today announced it has been awarded a contract for the water supply of approximately 50 municipalities in the eastern German Lander of Saxony with 50,000 inhabitants.
The contract is to run for 25 years and represents an estimated DM10 million annual turnover.
Eurawasser, Lyonnaise des Eaux' German subsidiary will be operating the service through a joint company formed between Eurawasser 25% and the local municipalities 75%.
Eurawasser already operates water and wastewater services in the region for the cities of Eisleben and Leuna, and strengthens its position for forthcoming privatization projects.
In Germany, Lyonnaise des Eaux through Eurawasser has been supplying water and wastewater services since 1990 for the cities of Rostock and Potsdam, and manages the wastewater services for the city Goslar.
