24/09/98 Suez Lyonnaise des Eaux donates equipment to flood disaster areas in China
At a ceremony to be held tomorrow at the People’s Great Hall in Beijing, Mr Gérard Mestrallet, Chief Executive Officer and President of the Executive Board of Suez Lyonnaise des Eaux, will announce the donation to China of drinking water equipment which is designed to help disaster areas, ensuring that people have access to potable water and avoiding the possibility of contamination.
The donation will consist of 2 Ultrasource drinking water units as well as 2 sets of microfiltration equipment, therefore providing a clarification-desinfection capacity to meet the drinking water needs of up to 120 000 inhabitants (technical information and pictures available on request).
The two sets of microfiltration equipment have been operational since the end of August in the Shishou City of Hubei Province which is the most serious flooding area in China. Regarding the Ultrasource drinking units, one will be sent to Gong An while the other location still has to be determined by the Chinese Civil Affairs Ministry.
