07/01/98 Degrémont to equip the Jersey sewage treatment plant with a revolutionary process
Degrémont (Suez Lyonnaise des Eaux Group) has recently won the contract to upgrade the Bellozane sewage treatment plant, Jersey Island, through its subsidiary Degrémont UK.
With a capacity of 120,000 pe, the plant's performance level will be improved through the implementation of a nitrification stage using the Pégazur®, a new generation reactor. This will be a first in Europe.
The insertion of a nitrification stage in the water treatment line limits eutrophication of the natural medium (i.e., ecological imbalance and oxygen deficiency). This process is especially recommended in areas where the strong development of tourism increases the need for protection of the environment.
Pégazur® nitrifies the effluents fed to plants only designed for removal of carbonaceous pollution. The use of Biocube®, a revolutionary material, makes it possible to round out the treatment in the existing structures themselves. The ease of implementation and the compactness of Pégazur® make it a competitive process, particularly suited for the upgrading of existing facilities.
