Spain and Mexico, two of the countries Kemwater sponsors on a national level in the Stockholm Junior Water Prize competition, have selected the winners to represent their respective countries in Stockholm in August.
Kemira Ibérica, S.A., Kemwater and the Agbar Foundation sponsor the national competition in Spain for the second consecutive year and on 19 May the national jury of the Junior Water Prize selected the work to represent Spain in Stockholm in August. Out of the two finalist works, the work performed by five students from Instituto López de Arenas in Marchena (Seville) was elected winner. The title of the students’ work is “Application of different quality indexes on water from the Corbones River”.
The Spanish Scientific Committee emphasises the quality of both finalist works, and the committee together with the organisers wishes Spain the same luck that the Spanish representation had last year when they won this international competition for their country.
Mexico participates in the Stockholm Junior Water Prize for the first time this year and one of the national sponsors is Kemwater de México, S.A. de C.V.
A total of 111 works were presented at the national contest, many of which were of very high quality. A work written by three Mexican girls won the Mexican national competition. Alma Ríos Esparza, Mónica Rodríguez González and Silvia Menchaca Martínez who form the winning team come from the Colegio de Bachilleres Plantel 16 “Tláhuac”, Mexico City. The title of their presentation is “Elimination of arsenic from water intended for human consumption”.
