Kemwater operation started in Salvador, Brazil Kemwater Brasil’s new production site in Salvador in northern Brazil has started up operation. The ready plant will produce Kemwater FERIX-XL3, a granulated ferric sulphate. Kemwater Brasil S.A. is jointly owned by Kemira Kemwater and Millennium Inorganic Chemicals.
“The construction and preparation of the plant were finished by the end of November last year, as foreseen in the time table”, says Jean-Marie François, who has headed the project. “Copperas was fed on 22 November for testing of the plant. Some minor problems in parts of the equipment occurred at start-up, but those are solved now”.
During December and the first half of January intensive training of staff took place at Millennium’s plant, and all the finishing work was performed.
The plant runs satisfactorily since mid January, but is not yet into full operation. “Sergio da Cunha Santos, who is our local Kemwater engineer, and the operators have done an excellent training and start-up job and I feel very confident as regards the future operation of our plant”, Mr. François concludes.
