The Water Resources Association of the Delaware River Basin (WRA) presented its highest award to Marilyn Ware at its 18th annual recognition dinner on April 12. The Samuel S. Baxter Memorial Award recognizes the person or company who has contributed most to sound water resource management in the Delaware River Basin.
Robert C. Shinn, commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, presented The Samuel S. Baxter Award to Ware. In his remarks, Shinn commended Ware and American Water Works Company for their commitment to a tradition of environmental excellence.
"On behalf of American Water Works, I am honored to receive such a prestigious award from this well respected organization," said Ware, Chairman of the Board, American Water Works Company. "Our Company is proud of its contribution to water resource management, not only in the Delaware Valley but also nationwide." Ware has served as the Company's chairman since 1988.
The Water Resources Association is a non-profit membership organization that was formed in 1959 to promote sound water resource management among individuals and corporations in the Delaware River Basin. Over 200 corporations, utilities and individuals comprise the WRA, which prides itself on educational and advocacy activities throughout the Delaware Valley.
