28-03-2003
1/25 :
AWG Government Services today announced that it has added repair and maintenance contracts for housing and property in Birmingham and London to its existing business, making it a leader in the growing public sector outsourcing market.
The local authority contracts have a combined annual turnover in excess of £65m. More than 1200 staff will be transferred from the existing operator, Serviceteam, part of Cleanaway.
AWG Government Services already manages thousands of properties and assets for clients across the UK including large-scale outsourcing programmes for councils in Norwich and North Lanarkshire.
Commenting on the announcement, Phil Clifton, managing director for AWG Plc's Government Services division said: "This is an important step in AWG's infrastructure management ambitions. The contracts themselves suit our infrastructure and change management skills extremely well and build upon the experience and knowledge in the group. I am delighted at the opportunity this brings for developing our business further; Birmingham and London are superb regional bases from which to expand. We very much look forward to working with our new clients and staff."
