Following an international tender, Vivendi Water, a subsidiary of Vivendi Environnement, has won the privatization and outsourcing services contract with a municipal water company in Poland that serves the towns of Tarnowskie Gory and Miasteczko Slaskie in the Silesian region. This is Vivendi Water's first outsourcing services contract in Poland.
The Tarnowskie Gory and Miasteczko Slaskie water company manages the municipal water and wastewater services for 70,000 people. Vivendi Water will manage those water and wastewater services for 25 years. The group's initial 33.85% stake in that company will increase to 63.5% by 2003. The contract represents total revenues of 125 million euros for the whole period.
In the last few years in Poland, no outsourcing services contract has been signed in the water business.
In addition to its professionalism and know-how as a water services operator, Vivendi Water demonstrated a true partnership approach to municipal authorities. The company was also able to meet the municipalities' requirements in terms of investment, labor guarantees and control of price increases.
Vivendi Environnement has been operating in Poland for several years in its four business segments: Vivendi Water Systems has built or upgraded a number of wastewater treatment plants, in particular in Krakow, Kielce and Rybnik; Dalkia Termika has facilities management contracts and operates heating networks such as in Zielona Gora; Onyx manages waste collection in Jaworzno and Kielce; and Connex operates Rapid Bus in Warsaw.
