Operations Management International, Inc.'s (OMI) Rockport, Indiana, utility services project has achieved International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9002 certification from international registrar ABS Quality Evaluations, Inc. ISO is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies from some 130 countries. The mission of ISO is to promote and develop common standards worldwide to facilitate quality management systems.
"Achieving this certification is one more step in our effort to become a world-class organization," says OMI's Vice President of Quality and Technology Roger Quayle. "ISO 9000 provides the foundation for a system to improve quality, reduce costs and increase customer satisfaction."
Since 1997, OMI has provided utility management services for AK Steel's Rockport plant where AK Steel successfully started the most modern continuous galvanizing (CGL) line in the world. OMI supports the CGL by managing steam, compressed air, cooling water, reverse osmosis, and water and wastewater treatment functions.
