Wilmington, MA -- Rick Lesan has joined Koch Membrane Systems, Inc. and will lead the new Technology Group for Reverse Osmosis (RO) and Nanofiltration (NF) Products and Processes.

Koch Membrane Systems (KMS) is creating this group to serve clients who are seeking a multiple membrane process approach to solving their unique problems. Increasingly, reverse osmosis and nanofiltration are being integrated with ultrafiltration to provide more customized water treatment. KMS is a worldwide designer and manufacturer of all three types of membrane systems. The new group will be responsible for research and pilot studies for multiple membrane solutions.

"It became apparent that KMS would benefit from having its technical and commercial information coordinated by one highly specialized and experienced person, and distributed throughout the company to enhance sales and support. Rick has assumed that role and will work with the research function to focus attention on areas needing new development, and to provide guidance and justification support," said Randy Truby, vice president, of sales and marketing for Koch Membrane Systems.

Lesan is a chemical engineer who has spent his entire 30-year career in the field of membrane systems. At Fluid Systems Corporation in 1974, he led the team that designed and introduced the first 8-inch diameter by 40-inch spiral element, a geometry which has become the standard for the industry. He also contributed to the design of the 12-inch diameter by 60-inch long Magnum element that Fluid Systems introduced as part of the Yuma Desalter. In the late 1970s, Lesan led the creation of Hydranautics' successful product line. Lesan comes to KMS from Osmonics, where he was the technical advisor to founder and CEO Dean Spatz.
