EDMONTON - EPCOR Water Services
has just completed the purchase of
Westcoast
Hydrant Services, a water and wastewater service company based in
Richmond, B.C. Westcoast Hydrant Services has been providing inspections,
preventative maintenance, repairs, and renewal services for water and sewer
systems in B.C. for over 25 years.
"This purchase puts EPCOR Water Services in a leadership position in
B.C. while giving us an opportunity to continue growing our business in that
market," said Allan Davies, President of EPCOR Water Services. "With
25 years in the business, Westcoast Hydrant Services offers well-trained
employees, a good reputation and services that complement EPCOR's existing
offerings."
All of Westcoast Hydrant's staff will be retained including its original
owners, Bob and Catherine Shields, whose extensive experience in the B.C.
marketplace will be an asset for EPCOR. The business will operate under the
name "EPCOR Westcoast Hydrant and Water Services" in the interim and
will assume the EPCOR name in the future.
"We see this as very positive and exciting for both our customers and
employees. B.C. clients will benefit from the tremendous value of the services
and support that EPCOR offers," said Bob Shields.
For over 90 years, EPCOR has provided a wide variety of water and sewer
assessment, maintenance, and operation services to industries and over 40
municipalities in Western Canada. EPCOR's most recent B.C. investments include
a contract to design, build and operate a water treatment plant for the
District of Port Hardy and the purchase of a 7-MW hydroelectric plant near
Prince Rupert.
